The yearly trend continues! With Major League Baseball underway, the ballpark experience has exploded over the last few years. Traditional hot dogs, peanuts and beer are always the go-to choices at concession stands, but everyone around the league is seemingly trying to outdo themselves with wacky and wild creations.
For 2019 here are the newest and weirdest delicacy choices you can make at a ballpark near you:
Atlanta Braves – Blooper Burger:
For the low, low price of $26 you can have essentially a week’s worth of food in one sitting! The blooper burger is basically a heart attack in between two pieces of Texas toast: four cheeseburger patties, a footlong hot dog, some chicken tenders, jalapenos and cheese sauce, all in one giant burger.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then may I suggest the Dinger Dog? It’s a footlong with cheese and bacon jam, wrapped in a puff pastry.
Detroit Tigers – Coney Dog Egg Roll:
Obviously this isn’t your traditional egg roll. Inside is a chili dog, and the outside is topped with mustard and onions.
Houston Astros – Fritos Pie Corn Dog:
Yet another footlong hot dog, but this is no standard chili dog. The meat is hand-dipped in Fritos corn chips batter, then topped with Texas chili and queso blanco.
Los Angeles Dodgers – Going Yard:
This puts a footlong to shame. The Dodgers introduced a 16.5-inch jalapeno cheddar sausage, threw it in a bun and then topped it with onions, corn, avocado relish and sour cream. It costs $21 and it’s a hit – Dodger Stadium ran out on Opening Day before the game even started!
Pittsburgh Pirates – Pittsburgh cone:
This isn’t quite chicken and waffles. The Pirates busted out a waffle cone stuffed with kielbasa, pierogi, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut, topped with Russian dressing. Though the name isn’t exactly eye-popping, the results are. The best part? It’s only nine dollars!
Seattle Mariners – Ku Ku fries:
Ichiro just retired, but the M’s have a new Japanese star in pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, in his first season in the big leagues. So, while you watch the lefty pitch, enjoy some Ku Ku fries, consisting of fries topped with chili sauce, chives, horseradish crème, red flying fish eggs and togarashie seasoning.
Texas Rangers – The Fowl Pole:
Kind of like the Blooper Burger, there’s no fancy, unusual ingredient in the Fowl Pole – it’s just a massive serving of a standard. Take your classic chicken tender, only make it two pounds, tack on waffle fries and add a few dipping sauces, and there’s your meal. Remember: everything is bigger in Texas.
