As all Connecticut residents age 16 and older become eligible for the COVID vaccines on Thursday, the governor's Chief Operating Officer, Josh Geballe, says he believes the state is winning the race to vaccinate before the virus spikes again.
"If you look at the most important metric, which is how many people are dying from COVID-19," says Geballe, "it looks pretty clear that we are winning that race... The death rates are declining rapidly."
In its latest 24-hour report issued Wednesday, the state reported one coronavirus death. The 7-day positive test average is 4.0%.
Geballe spoke to WTIC's Dave Mager on a number of related topics, including late word from the federal government that a production glitch at Johnson & Johnson in Baltimore (15 million doses ruined) will not effect supply in Connecticut for at least this week (23,000 J&J doses) and next (54,000).
