Hartford's full-court press to get its residents vaccinated against COVID-19 has entered a new phase, with a 24-hour "Vax-A-Thon" at the Artists Collective, 1200 Albany Ave.
It's underway and running straight through 5 pm Saturday, using the Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines. Walk-ins are welcome.
"We have to make vaccines more accessible," says Lisa Zapatka, Regional Chief Nursing Manager for Trinity Health of New England, which is running the clinic, "especially in Hartford, the inner city. For people who can't come to the traditional clinic, that might be an 8 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. So, we were all kind of put to task to meet that challenge. For us, it was to find a location to go where the community lives, and make it accessible."
