A frustrated Connecticut NAACP President Scot Esdaile says the placing of another noose at the Amazon facility under construction in Windsor represents a failure of society-- and law enforcement.

"There's a culture here that has to be eradicated."

Word of the eighth noose present at the site over the last few weeks, placed despite new security measures, came as Esdaile and volunteers arrived Wednesday to talk to employees. The FBI is investigating.

"We come to the site. They tell us that there's another noose on the site and the site is shut down again," says Esdaile. "We said, 'we still want to talk to the workers.' When we come to the site to have a conversation with Amazon, then, the Windsor police come and surround the NAACP!"

Esdaile says police told his group to leave the property. He plans to file a complaint with Windsor police.

The site was also shut down last week after a seventh noose was found.

An Amazon spokesperson writes, "We will continue to work with all levels of law enforcement as well as our development partners, to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that all members of our community feel valued, respected and safe."
