(Meriden, Conn./WTIC) - First Lady Jill Biden paid a visit to Meriden today, hometown to new U.S. Education Secretary and former state education commissioner Miguel Cardona.
The two toured Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, visiting with students, staff and teachers.
Biden, herself a community college instructor, says she knows firsthand the challenges students are faced with by not physically being in the classroom.
Cardona says the inconsistency of remote versus in person learning impacts students' progress.
Cardona says he will advocate for the timely return to the classroom for students and educators with a mandate to doing so safety.
