(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)- A measure before Connecticut lawmakers calls for the Connecticut Sentencing Commission to review and update Connecticut's Animal Cruelty Laws.
Advocates testified that Connecticut's statutes haven't been reviewed in thirty years and need to keep pace with current practicies.
They also say these crimes provide a gateway to other crimes.
Testimony came before the Judiciary Committee.
Just this week authorities seized dozens of goats from a Redding property, fearing for their safety.
