(Windsor Locks, Conn./WTIC) - Fire offcials are advising residents that we are in the middle of brush fire season.
Between now and the beginning of May is when connecticut typically sees most of the forest fire activity.
With dry conditions and dead brush, one spark is all that's needed to start a blaze.
Alan Zygmunt, public information officer with the Connecticut Fire Academy and a retired Southington fire captain, says be cognizant of the conditions before burning anything.
He says when forest fire danger is high, citizens should rethink outdoor burning.
Zygmunt also advises contacting local fire authorities about burn ordinances.
And it's also a good idea to clear any dead brush from around the home that could catch fire.
