Hartford, Conn. WTIC)- Package store owners are upset about a proposal before the General Law Committee that would allow big store grocery chains to sell beer only if they already have a package store permit.

Maureen Abramson owns a package  store  in Fairfield with her husband.

She says Connecticut does not want to turn into Maryland and Florida:

"The big box stores take over, putting the little  guy out of business. They  decimate the quintessential New England landscapes, creating concrete wastelands. Liquor consumption is  finite. There's only so much the  population can consume."
