(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)- Connecticut Food Bank/Food Share says it's extending its emergency drive-through distribution sites through April.

It also announced the last day for the Rentschler Field site in East Hartford will be April 29th.

President and CEO Jason Jakubowski says the operation that began as a temporary distribution effort developed drive through sites throughout the state.

The Food Bank/Food Share has a network of 700 partner programs throughout the state.

Jakubowski says even when we've combatted the biological virus, there will still be a 12 to 18 month lag on the economy, people getting jobs and it will be an extended time before things  get back to normal.

The organization also says information about additional community resources will be provided as the closing  dates at the drive-thru locations approach.

Jakubowski says the public and corporations have been generous with donations. He says unfortunately, as fast as it arrives, the money is being spent.
