(Hartford, Conn.WTIC)-Senator Richard Blumenthal predicts passage this week or next of the Covid relief financial aid package, calling it a down payment, but "not robust."
Blumenthal says negotiations have been ongoing and the numbers still need to be approved. "The amount in the compromise proposal is inadequate, but a start. It's a down payment and will be a bridge to the next administration," he said.
Hartford Healthcare President Jeffrey Flaks says their challenge is to "maintain broad and substantial testing and to support our staff so they can continue their extraordinary work on the front lines."
Dr John Murphy of Nu Vance Health says there are many demands on weary staff taking care of patients. " We don't know how high the peak wil be. We look at models every day. They're all obviously concerning and this is going to get worse before it gets better."
The Connecticut Hospital Association says state-wide hospital capacity is 73 percent overall and 56 percent in the intensive care units.
