(Hartford, CT. WTIC)- A measure before state lawmakers would impose an assessment on homes, depending on the amount of affordable housing in each community.
Lawmakers testified that the definition of affordable housing is vague, and that many municipalities fail to reach the threshold. Others testified that certain homes, because of value, would not be taxed, but others would face assessments of an additional two mills.
Lawmakers on the Planning and Development Committee said people are moving out of the state because of Connecticut's constant stream of new taxes.
