(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-The UConn Board of Trustees approved a plan to build a $70-million hockey rink on campus.
Approval came as part of an agreement by the university to join the Hockey East Association in 2013.
UConn Executive Vice President Scott Jordan says the university will pay for the 26-hundred seat venue through real estate sales, philanthropy and the issuance off $33-million in University bonds.
The plan is to open the arena in the fall of 2022.
