(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-The legislature's Public Safety Committee has approved the measure negotiated between the Governor's office and two Native American tribes to allow on-line gaming.
Highlights include providing more money to municipalities, additional revenue for problem-gambling counselors and tuition-free community colllege.
Only two opposed the measure. Wallingford State Representative Craig Fischbein says the compact is too exclusionary, depriving the public from casino ownership. State Representative Rick Hayes voted against the measure because he feels revene from gaming should be used to pay down the state's debt.
The measure now heads to the full house.
