NEW YORK (WTIC Radio) - Tobacco giant Philip Morris says it's moving its U.S. headquarters to Connecticut.

The move from New York to Fairfield County will bring about 200 jobs to the state, the company announced Tuesday morning.

“Connecticut offers a valuable mix of technological know-how, future-forward thinking, and an open-minded approach to problem-solving,” said CEO Jacek Olczak. “We consider it an ideal location for our new U.S. head office."

The company singled out the office of Gov. Ned Lamont for helping to strike the deal.

The relocation is expected to be complete by next summer, the company said.
