(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)--The Hartford City Council and Connecticut Airport Authority are in discussions on what the future holds for the Century old Brainard Airport.
Some Council members argue the Airport fails to make money and could be better suited for redevelopment, opening up access to the city's riverfront.
Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin called ongoing talks productive.
Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director Kevin Dillon admits that generally these airports lose money but are an economic generator as far as providing employment.
He adds, " We need the city to work with us to have Brainard reach its full potential. If we do have a reluctant sponsor, maybe it's time to sit down and discuss its future."
Dillon was a guest on the WTIC morning show.
