(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)- The state House has overwhelmingly approved a measure allowing cameras inside the rooms of nursing homes.
The measure now heads to the state Senate.
Anna Doroghazi, the Associate state Director of Advocacy and Outreach for CT AARP says the measure has been around for a couple of years but the Pandemic increased the need for families to reach out to their loved ones through technology.
Under the measure, the nursing home resident would pay for the cameras but the home itself would provide the network technology. The nursing home resident would also need written consent from a roomate to install the camera.
West Hartford State Senator Derek Slap worked on the measure as a member of the Aging Committee. He says the measure addresses privacy issues and should gain passage in the Senate.
