Hartford.Conn WTIC)- About 38-thousand Connecticut residents who earn below one hundred dollars a week will be eligible for more unemployment.

Governor Ned Lamont has signed  an executive order for those  employees to reach the one hundred dollars a week threshold.  That

also qualifies them for the 3-hundred dollar a week federal benefit. This is only for the July 26th through September fifth period.

Governor Lamont says the extra money comes from the state's Trust Fund. "This is a seven and a half million dollar investment by the state of Connecticut. It's going to return 55-million dollars  to working moms and dads across the state of Connecticut."

State Labor Commissioner Kurt Westby. "The average plus-up woud be 43 dollars per person for those six weeks. That's the average amount individually. The collective amount in terms of what comes  from the Trust Fund is seven point five million dollars."

Westby says so far 419 million dollars has been borrowed from the fund. He says the state is seeking $250 million more.
