(Hartford, Conn.-WTIC) Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has recommended that state regulator PURA reject the restructuring plan by Frontier Communications.
Tong says his office has received "tons" complaints about customer service, misrepresentation by Frontier to customers about the service they're supposed to receive and what they pay for. Tong also says the system has been neglected along with their physical plant.
Frontier is looking to shed ten billion dollars in debt and obligations through bankruptcy. It purchased SNET in 2014.
"They're hiding the ball on this. We don't know who the management and buyer will be and their plans. We don't don't know how they're going to do better for the people of Connecticut. It's mine and PURA's job to say not good enough", Tong said.
Tong says he fears a financial buyer, like a hedge fund, will purchase the company and "squeeze the assets for all it's worth".
Tong appeared on the WTIC morning show.
