(Avon, Conn/WTIC) - State envirionmental conservation police say the Army Corps of Engineers will be releasing a large amount of water into the Farmington River in order to reduce strain on dams and larger water bodies to the north.
That's due to the heavy rainfall we've received this month.
Two teenagers went missing Thursday when they apparently entered the Farmington to go swimming in Avon.
They haven't been found.
En-Con police are urging those on the river to take extreme caution due to the amount of water and the strong undertow.
They say that applies not only to the Farmington but any of the other rivers in Connecticut that can seem calm on the surface but also have a strong undercurrent.
