Accused of firing rifle shots at the State Capitol during a bizarre Memorial Day Weekend shooting spree, a Southington man now faces state charges.

Floyd Gollnick, 74, already held on $750 thousand bail for allegedly spraying gunfire around Southington and Bristol on May 30, was arrested Tuesday by state police, accused of shooting up the Capitol on the same day.

An arrest warrant cites surveillance video showing Gollnick's Chevy Silverado near the Capitol after 1 pm. It's seen stopping on Capitol Ave. for about one minute, in front of the south side of the building, where three bullet holes were later found.

State police say the ShotSpotter system was activated twice, at 1:11 pm and 1:12, during the minute Gollnick's pickup was stopped. Mobile phone and OnStar records also correspond with the timing of the attack.

After Gollnick's May 30 arrest in the Southington/Bristol cases, police recovered a .22 caliber rifle with matching bullets and shell casings.

No one was hurt in any of the May 30 shootings. For the incident at the Capitol, Gollnick is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
