(Cheshire, Conn./WTIC) - The Connecticut Interscholastic Athetic Conference is releasing details of the spring sports schedule and Covid-19 mandates.

The plan covers the following sports: baseball, softball, boys and girls lacrosse, tennis, golf, track and field and boys volleyball.

The conference says the plan is in line with guidance from the state Department of Public Health but is fluid.

The first day of practices is March 27; baseball pitchers and catchers report March 20.

Competition is slated to begin April 10.

Athletes are not required to wear masks during competition, with the exception of boys volleyball.

They will, however, be mandated to wear masks when not actively competing, as will coaches.

CIAC also says all efforts will be made to schedule games in state.

CIAC tournament play begins in late May with boys and girls tennis, running through June 12 with baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
