CLINTON, Connecticut (WTIC radio)
Connecticut Water issuing a mandatory boil water order for customers in nine towns after E. Coli was detected during routine testing. The company announced Friday the bacteria was found at one sample point in Essex. The order affects customers served by two Connecticut Water systems: The Chester System and the Guilford Water System.
Towns affected by the Chester System include Deep River, Essex, Haddam and Chester. Towns affected by the Guilford Water System include Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison and Guilford.
Officials say customers should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before drinking it, using it in food preparation, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes.
