While he says Connecticut is now ready to handle a long-predicted fall surge of COVID-19, Gov. Ned Lamont says the latest daily statistics from the Department of Public Health are "unnerving."
Specifically, the latest 24-hour COVID-19 positive test rate got the governor's attention. It's 2.4%, the highest since mid-June. He says concentrated, increased testing in specific areas, like the Rapid Response Team's current work in New London, could help prevent much wider trouble.
"We've got the testing capacity up at 150,000, ready to ramp that up as needed" said Lamont, during his latest news briefing, heard on WTIC NewsTalk 1080, "This is testing not just symptomatics, but asymptomatics, so we'll be able to track what's going on in terms of community spread."
