Explain this: New Yorkers are welcome in Connecticut without quarantining if they're traveling on essential business, but Rhode Islanders are not.
You need a scorecard to keep track of the latest COVID-19 travel advisories, as the novel coronavirus is still producing novel approaches to infection control.
In his update Wednesday, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo said 43 states are now on his state's advisory, but CT, NJ and PA are not.
"Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, you don't fly in, you drive in," said Cuomo, "There are numerous roads that are interconnections, you would have to do some theory of border checks all across the state." He adds that trying to halt travel between NY, CT and the others would severely damage the already-hurting economy.
You would think the same geographical standard might apply to Rhode Island, which has been on-and-off the CT list, but it doesn't, at least for now. Cases are very much on the rise in RI.
