(Wethersfield, Conn/WTIC) - The state Department of Labor is reporting gains on the jobs front for the month of August.

The department says there were 3,300 gains last month.

DOL director of research Patrick Flaherty says seven of the ten sectors added jobs, including leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and manufacturing.

Two sectors declined, Flaherty said.

He says the unemployment rate ticked down by a tenth of a percentage point to 7.2-percent.

On another front, Flaherty says they revised the July gains upward by 9,400 to 11,100, the strongest month of 2021 so far.
