(New Haven, Conn./WTIC) - Once again, organizers of the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade have postponed the event due to the coronavirus.
It's the second consecutive year one of the region's oldest celebrations has been pushed back a year.
In a message on it's website, the committee says the goal is to hold the parade March 13, 2022 "in the best interests of the community".
The parade's origins date back to 1842 when 90 members of the Hibernian Provident Society marched through the streets of the Elm City.
The 2020 New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade was postponed at the onset of the pandemic.
