Emergency food distribution will continue through November at Rentschler Field

(Bloomfield, Conn./WTIC) - Food distribution for those in need will continue at Rentschler Field in East Hartford through next month.

Bloomfield-based Foodshare over 200-thousand households have been served, providing 5-million meals in the seven months since the pandemic gripped Connecticut.

Foodshare president and CEO Jason Jakubowski says the demand remains high and thanks the community for its support in meeting the high demand.

Starting next month, Foodshare distribution will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. until noon.  It will be closed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as Thanksgiving Day, November 26.

The emergency distribution is in addition to over 260 pantries, community kitchens, and mobile sites that provide food throughout the region.

To find a pantry, citizens are encourage to call 2-1-1.
