(Norwich, Conn./WTIC) - Cities and towns statewide have been preparing for flooding rains from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
Some areas could see upward of a half-a-foot of rain before it moves out of here Thursday.
In Norwich, which has seen its share of flooding from storms in years past, Mayor Peter Nystrom said even though the locals are experienced in dealing with flooding, there is always concern.
Neighorhoods like the city's Greenville section are prone to flooding, he said, as well as areas along the Yantic River.
Police, fire and other agencies have been reviewing emergency protocols, Nystrom said.
He's advising residents to stay put if possible until the rain lets up.
