(Farmington, Conn./WTIC) - Windy conditions are causing power outages across the state.
Just before noon, Eversource was reporting nearly 12,000 of its customers without service.
Some of the harder hit towns included Colchester with nearly 1,000 outages, Windsor with about 800, Middletown around 700 and Hartford with a little more than 600.
Eversource says the winds are bringing down trees, causing damage to its electric system.
The company says hundreds of crew and support staff are responding.
In addition, Eversource says it's in contact with officials in the affected areas and will have generators on standby for those polling places that need them on Election Day, if it comes to that.
A wind advisory is in effect through this afternoon for gusts that could top 50 MPH.
