(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Once again, Hartford residents will have the opportunity to turn in unwanted firearms this weekend.
The Hartford Police Department is sponsoring a gun buy back.
Those city residents turning in unwanted firearms are eligible to receive Stop and Shop gift cards ranging from $50-to-$250, depending on the type of weapon.
Police say over the last several years, they have collected about one-thousand firearms through the buy back program.
The guns can be turned in, no questions asked, after which they be taken to the State Police lab in Meriden and destroyed.
