(Watertown, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Watertown say a juvenile sustained serious injuries in a home invasion in town on Wednesday.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Morris Town Line Highway around 4:00 in the afternoon on a report that the victim sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries about the head, legs, and arms that were consistent with those inflicted with an edged weapon.
Detectives say the victim and the suspect, a 16-year-old male, were known to one another.
They say following the attack, the suspect leapt from a second-floor window and ran off into nearby woods..
Authorities were able to make contact with the suspect and took him into custody.
They recovered a hatchet, a large kitchen knife, and a machete, along with duct tape and binoculars.
The suspect's name hasn't been released due to his age. He's charged with criminal attempt at murder, reckless endangerment, stalking, risk of injury and burglary.
Police say the attack was not random and that the suspect did target the victim.
