West Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - One person is dead and two people seriously injured, including a police officer, following an early morning crash in West Haven.
Police say around 2:20 a.m., a Hyundai Elantra was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Derby Avenue.
The driver apparently lost control on the slippery roads, spun sideways, and struck a police cruiser that was parked in a gas station lot.
A passenger in the civilian vehicle was killed.
The driver of that vehicle and the police officer were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both are expected to recover from their injuries.
The West Haven Police Major Accident Squad is investigating.
