12-year-old girl found dead at Enfield residence

Enfield Police are investigating the death of a 12-year-old girl whose body was found at a residence Wednesday morning.

A 911 call around 10:25 a.m. reported an unresponsive female person at 176 Elm Street.

Police found the girl, identified as Eve Rogers, dead inside the residence.

Rogers was homeschooled, according to a statement from Enfield Public Schools superintendent Steven Moccio:

We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of a 12-year-old child in our community. Although she was not enrolled in Enfield Public Schools at the time of her passing, having been homeschooled, this loss is profoundly felt throughout our town. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the child’s family, friends, and all those impacted by this devastating loss.

Connecticut State Police are assisting Enfield Police in the investigation.

The Chief Medical Examiner's office is conducting an autopsy. No cause of death was immediately apparent, according to police.
