HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford Public Schools announces their 2025 teacher of the year.
It's Ashantee Hyman, a science teacher from Milner Middle School.
The announcement was made at a ceremony Thursday evening at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
Hyman is a Hartford native who graduated from Weaver High School in 2008 then went to the University of Connecticut to get her bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology.
She returned to her roots by becoming a substitute teacher in 2016 and worked her way toward becoming a teacher in Hartford.
It seems her journey is just getting started. Hyman is now pursuing a doctor of education at johns hopkins university, where her research focuses on educational technology.
Ms. Hyman truly exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding teacher in Hartford Public Schools,” said Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez.
