Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - Middletown is activating additional speed cameras.

Effective next Monday, November 17th, the new cameras will be deployed at Westfield Street near the Spencer Elementary School zone between McCormick Lane and Bailey Road.

The speed limit there from 8:00-9:15 a.m. and 3:00-3:45 p.m. will be 20 mph.

It's normally 30 mph during non-school zone hours.

The other additional camera will be at Country Club Road, where the speed limit will be 25 mph at all times.

Beginning next Monday, warnings will be issued.

Then starting December 22, citations will be handed out to violators at both sites.

The new locations bring to five the number of cameras being used to crack down on speeding, which city officials say is down markedly since the activations.
