NEW HAVEN, CONN (WTIC Radio)-Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro joined victims of gun violence to mark Gun Violence Survivors Week and to
push for Congress to adopt Ethan's Law, which calls for the safe storage of weapons.

DeLauro submitted the measure, named after Ethan Song who shot and killed himself with an unsecured gun at a friend's house in Guilford nearly six year ago.

His mother Kristen Song said her life imploded into a million little pieces, that her marriage suffered tremendously and her son and daughter will always be broken.

Tara Donnelly had both her parents murdered in their Fairfield jewely store 19 year ago. The killer stole the gun in a previous robbery attempt.

Donnelly said the 118 lives lost daily to gun violence are preventable, and you never get over gun violence. Further she said you just adjust, and the pain remains an unwelcomed daily presence.

Both women will travel to Washington to urge members of Congress to pass Ethan's  law. They need to convince 13 more members.
