Bridgeport, Conn./WTIC Radio - A New York State woman is being charged after Connecticut State Police say she was driving the wrong way in Interstate 95 early Friday morning.
Just after 1:30 a.m., troopers say they received a 911 call reporting a vehicle headed southbound in the northbound lanes near exit 3 in Greenwich.
Personnel at Troop G in Bridgeport were monitoring DOT cameras and identifed a red Honda HR-V traveling reverse in the right shoulder, prior to entering the right and center lanes, still traveling in reverse as other motorists swerved out of the way.
Police stopped the driver, identified as Flavia Cristina De Almeida Gomes, 49, of West Harrison, New York, whom they believed to be impaired.
De Almeida Gomes failed field sobriety tests, according to troopers.
She was booked on a number of charges including OUI, failure to maintain a proper lane and driving the wrong way on a divided highway among others.
De Almeida Gomes was released on bond and is due in court April 26th.
