Danbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Danbury are charging a Stamford woman in connection with a crash this month that left a Bridgeport police officer and a passenger on his motorcycle dead.
Under arrest is Melissa Ramirez, 27.
It was July 13 that Officer Cooper Whiteside, 38, of Danbury and Brittany Islami, 34, of New Milford, were killed in a head-on collision with Ramirez's vehicle on Sugar Hollow Road.
She now faces two counts of manslaughter, along with charges of driving under the influence, speeding, and failure to maintain a proper lane.
Ramirez is being held on $500,000 bond.
Officer Whiteside was laid to rest on Friday.
In addition to being a police officer, he was also volunteer firefighter before he began his career in law enforcement.
