Fairfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - A suspect in a jewelry store heist in Fairfield is under arrest.

Juan Aviles, 30, is charged.

Police say on November 29 they responded to a glass break alarm from Lenox Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike.

A police officer noticed a vehicle speeding from the parking lot around 11:30 that night.

They say entry was gained to the store by smashing out a window and that over $56,000 in gems was stolen.

Last Thursday, detectives identified the suspect vehicle and it was subsequently spotted once again in the store parking lot.

This time, officers were able to converge on the vehicle and arrest Aviles.

He's charged with criminal attempt at burglary, interfering with police and misuse of vehicle plates.

Bond was set at $250,000.
