Fairfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - Fairfield police say the body of a fisherman who went missing earlier this month has been found.
It was June 13 that Kwahiwi Edwards, 34, of Queens, New York was fishing with another man off Penfield Beach.
Police say the two men became stranded on a reef was the tide rapidly surrounded them.
A witness attempted to assist the men but was swept into deeper water.
That person and the second fisherman were rescued but Edwards was not located.
His body was ultimately found on a beach near Shoreline Drive in Stratford, police said.
Fairfield police were assisted by several surrounding towns and the U.S. Coast Guard in the rescue and recovery efforts.
