Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - The boil water advisory put in place in Waterbury as a result of last week's water main breaks has been lifted.

The city said Monday it got the all clear from the South Central Regional Water Authority following water quality tests.

This comes after the dual water main breaks on Tompkins Street that disrupted thousands of residents and businesses.

Residents are encouraged to run their faucets in order to allow the clean water to flush through their systems.

Mayor Paul Pernerewski said they appreciated the patients of residents, businesses, and others.

"The lifting of the Boil Water Notice marks the final step in our response to this emergency and is welcome news for our residents and businesses," said Pernerewski.
