Bristol, Conn./WTIC Radio - Today marks four years since the deaths of two Bristol police officers, killed in an ambush shooting while answering a call.
On October 12, 2022, Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy were lured to a Redstone Hill address by a phony 911 call.
The two officers, along with Officer Alec Iurato, were shot.
DeMonte and Hamzy were killed.
Iurato, who was wounded before he shot and killed the suspect, survived.
A post on the Bristol Police Department's Facebook page reads:
"Today marks four years since the line of duty deaths of Officers Dustin Demonte and Alex Hamzy. We ask the community to turn on their blue lights in remembrance of them and thank our city for the support they've given our agency since that night. Lieutenant Demonte and Sergeant Hamzy excelled as Law Enforcement Officers but were even better people who embodied what it means to be a role model in everything they did. We miss them always and they will never be forgotten."
A permanent memorial to the fallen officers is located in the lobby of the Bristol Police Department.
