MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Manchester Fire says it worked alongside I-84 Tuesday evening into night to put out brush fires that spanned several acres.
The fast-moving fire was reported around 7:25 p.m., amid heightened concerns of drought across Connecticut.
By time crews arrived, the fire had spread alongside I-84 Westbound between exits 62 and 63.
It was also threatening some homes, burning around 15 feet away from residences on Bryan Drive.
Two Manchester crews responded to Bryan Drive to protect the homes and put out the flames.
Vernon, Ellington, and Tolland all sent crews to help Manchester alongside I-84.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control within an hour and a half.
