
Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A woman is dead and environmental conservation police are investigating after a canoe overturned Saturday on the Hammonasset River.
The canoe occupants, two adults and a juvenile, were taking part in the State Park-led guided canoe program at the time.
The victim was rushed to Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Clinic in Westbrook where she was pronounced dead.
Officials say the victim was wearing a life jacket at the time.
Her name has not been released.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the other two occupants weren't injured.
