
New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in New Haven say a child was killed Sunday night in an apparent accidental shooting.
Just before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to an address in the city on a report of a person shot.
When they arrived, they found the eight-year-old victim lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound.
The child was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was with others in the house at the time, say police.
New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said the investigation is ongoing, adding that it was a "tragic, preventable, and senseless death.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has additional information is urged to contract New Haven police.
