Clinton, Conn./WTIC Radio - A woman is facing charges after state police say she ran over a child in her care after the child opened a car door and fell out of the vehicle.

This happened back in May.

Investigators say 55-year-old Maria Santiago is charged with risk of injury and failure to apply a child restraint system.

State troopers say Santiago also left three other children in a home with a stove on that day.

A warrant states that Santiago was driving quickly around a curve on Sunnybrook Lane when the little one opened car door and fell out, becoming trapped beneath the SUV.

The tire was still on the child's legs when others came to help.

The exact extent of the injuries was not released.

The case has been continued to next month.
