Couple found dead in Plainfield home

Plainfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Plainfield say a man killed his terminally ill wife before turning a gun on himself Monday.

Officers say the man identified as John Ezzell, 62, of Kate Downing Road, called them around 7:00 p.m.

He told police his wife Christine, 62, was suffering from terminal cancer and that he intended to take her life and then his.

Ezzell told dispatch the door their home would be left open for responding officers.

Police found the couple dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The couple's remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination, said police.
