HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The COVID-19 vaccine has helped but hasn't entirely saved Connecticut's long term care facilities.
As of Thursday, the state reports 25,225 total nursing home and assisted living residents, combined.
For the week ending February 2, 2021, there were 35 nursing home deaths and 5 assisted living deaths. The state reports that, as of Thursday, there are 128 active COVID cases.
The Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation reported four new deaths. Masonicare in Wallingford also reported four new deaths. Four fatalities at any one long term care facility was the most seen in the past week.
Since last March, a total of 4,344 of Connecticut's long term care facility residents have died of causes attributed to the Coronavirus.
