Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police say a trooper narrowly missed being struck by a vehicle over the weekend by a suspected impaired driver.
Around 2:30 Saturday morning, two troopers were dispatched to removed debris from the westbound side of Interstate 84 near exit 47.
That's when they say an SUV bypassed a roadblock, nearly sideswiped a police cruiser, and came within inches of hitting one of the responding troopers.
They later tracked down the suspect, Jerry Chungong, 23, of New Britain.
Troopers say Chungong initially didn't stop for police but then pulled into the shoulder by exit 44 in West Hartford.
Police say Chungong put his vehicle in reverse, nearly hitting a cruiser.
According to police, Chungong admitted consuming alcohol and failed a field sobriety test.
He faces a number of charges including illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence and is due in court later this month.
