HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut health officials are warning residents to take necessary precautions during the summer heat that's being experienced this week.
The current forecast indicates that temperatures over this period will rise close to or into the low 90s, and the heat index is expected to reach into the mid-90s in certain inland areas of the state.
On Monday, Governor Ned Lamont announced that he is directing Connecticut’s extreme hot weather protocol to be activated effective at noon on Tuesday, September 5, and remaining in effect through 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 7.
“While Labor Day signals the unofficial end of summer, that doesn’t mean that we won’t continue to see high temperatures that will feel very hot and humid,” said Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani.
